A few days before the 122nd high school day celebration, I became a candidate for the royal court, and my placement was the 11th prince. Honestly, I didn’t expect to be in that position, and I can’t say I wasn't nervous either. After I found out that I was part of the royal court, my advisor told me that we had practiced for the coronation, so I practiced with the other candidates. And so a few days passed by, and there was one more day before the high school day celebration, and that's when we had our last practice for the coronation.
The next morning I went to early school to prepare for the parade, but I wasn't able to be with my classmates during the parade because I was riding a Kalesa with my partner, the 11th princess. The parade took about an hour to finish since we circled around Vigan during the parade, me and my partner threw candies at the people, and we talked about trivial topics to pass the time. Once the parade was over, me and my partner were escorted to the stage where the rest of the royal court members were. Once we were seated, the teachers announced that there would be a short break before the field demonstration begins.
I went back to our classroom after telling the teachers I was going to participate in the field demo. When I got to our room, my classmates started handing out food to eat so that we would have enough energy to dance in the field demo. The field demo was separated between girls and boys; it was a competition between grade levels, so everybody was quite excited. While waiting for the other grade levels to finish their demonstrations, me and the boys in class practiced our dance so that we wouldn't make mistakes during our performance.
When it was our time to perform, we all felt a bit nervous but excited after they announced that the grade 9 students were done with their performance. We headed to our positions for the dance. When our performance started, we heard cheers from all over the place, which motivated us to perform to the best of our abilities, and during our performance, the cheers kept getting louder and louder, making me and my classmates more motivated to win. After our performance was done, we headed to our classroom, where the girls were waiting and congratulating us on our performance.
After the grade 9 girls category was done, it was the grade 10 girls turn to perform. Me and the boys in our class went and cheered when they started performing. After their performance, they all went back to the room in order to wait for the announcement on who won the field demo in the boys and girls category. After a few minutes, it was almost lunchtime when the judges were done scoring, and they finally started to announce the winners for the field demo. and thank the Lord that the grade 10 boys took first place in the field demo; unfortunately for the grade 10 girls, they placed 3rd despite their efforts. The girls in our class were feeling a bit down, so we tried to comfort them, telling them that they did their best and not to feel down anymore.
After that, I went home with my brother to go eat lunch since I was really hungry. After we were done eating, I told my mother that I would go back to school to watch the concert and asked my brother if he wanted to join. He said no, so they dropped me off at school and went back home. Once I was at school, I went to our classroom since there was still time until the concert began. A few of my classmates were sleeping to pass the time, and since they were exhausted from the field demo, an hour passed, and it was finally time for the concert, so me and my classmates all went to the gymnasium. When we got there, the gym was already filled with people, so we hurried to get seats so we wouldn't have to stand all through the concert. The concert was pretty fun, and I enjoyed it a lot. After the concert was over, we all went back to our classroom to clean up and call it a day.
It was a pretty good experience, not gonna lie. From the field demonstration to the concert and booths of each department, I can say that this was a day that I will never forget and will always cherish. I made a lot of memories with my friends and classmates, making this day one of the best days of my high school life.
